As suspected, that event has come to pass, and with it comes news that GoDaddy will also wash its hands of Chinese domain sales [WaPo], owing to China’s crackdown on rules for registering a .cn domain.
What’s next for China? China’s addiction to information control is now to the point where it will stifle international opportunities for technological growth, harm diplomatic relationships, and jeopardize the “superpower” status ascribed to its monumental growth that has been especially evident in the last two decades. You can check out my blog at the newly redesigned Domainer’s Magazine website.

Reading Mr. Carr’s recent column in the NYT, “The Fall and Rise of Media”, I’ve never been more exhilarated to seek out my next media move. The following passage is the heart of the message, and contains a rather positive outlook for the next generation of New York’s editors, designers, journalists and copywriters. It’s the best way to look at the dusk of any age–as the dawn of another.

For every kid that I bump into who is wandering the media industry looking for an entrance that closed some time ago, I come across another who is a bundle of ideas, energy and technological mastery. The next wave is not just knocking on doors, but seeking to knock them down.

Hear, hear, Mr. Carr. This twenty-something could not agree more.

A few sections are looking like I want them to look now. This site template was laid out very well–things are modular and very clearly written in the code, allowing me to make it into the site I wanted very quickly. One of the quirky things that attracted me to the template is the flash panel across the top of the page. I spent some time replacing the stock .swf (a bunch of erratically flashing typographics) with my own (a couple little red-pen antics) a couple of days ago when the site first went up. Once I’m done building the portfolio sections, my next test ought to be attempting manual integration of a flash menu within the WordPress site. It couldn’t be that difficult, could it?
